Japueti, a four year old from Naka town, Myanmar, was born with cleft lip and palate. He loves to smile! He has two sisters and one younger brother. His parents, who are very poor, have no permanent incomes. They grow rice mainly for consumption and sell some surplus for income.

Mrs. Mee Sor, our contact person in Thachileik, Myanmar introduced the project to the family and allowed the parents to bring Japueti to stay at her house in Mae Sai to await surgery.

In February, Transforming Faces’ social worker at our Northern Women’s Development Foundation (NWDF) project in Thailand, met the family on the border. In June, he had health assessment and underwent a surgery to repair his cleft lip and cleft palate. As well, he also underwent surgery to correct a nose deformity and received treatment to treat ear, nose and throat infections. He will receive continuing treatment for these infections.

Japueti and his family are happier and healthier since his visit to our project!
