Youkith and his father
Our Program Manager, Laura Lewis-Watts, recently visited our project in India. On a visit to Thiruvannamalai, the district where our project has been active since 2005, she met with Youkith Vaseekaran, age 5 and his father, Balaji. Youkith has been working with his community-based rehabilitation volunteer for about one year. The speech therapy element is made possible because the CBR works with Youkith at the school. His dad is very happy that this is available for his son, and that he is now better accepted at school.
Watch our videos and meet Youkith, his dad, and Suraj and Roopa from Chennai’s Sri Ramachandra University (SRU).
Laura, our Program Manager, talks to Youkith and his dad Balaji about his speech therapy treatment in India.
Suraj and Roopa, Chair of the Speech Therapy Dept at at Chennai’s Sri Ramachandra University (SRU) speak about the transportation challenges Balaji and Youkith face and why community-based rehabilitation is essential.
Youkith has been working with his community-based rehabilitation volunteer, G. Selvarani, a speech assistant, for about one year. The speech therapy element is made possible because the CBR works with Youkith at the school.
