Over the past week, our Peruvian partner, Maria Teresa Torres Morales de Salcedo, visited Toronto to learn from the team at SickKids ahead of her trip to accept the 2014 CPF Leadership Award.
Maria Teresa has inspired many patients and their families with her humble and determined approach. Over the past week, she met with the team at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital and the Cleft Lip and Palate Program at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto. She shadowed the team to learn more about the team approach to cleft care.
She was especially inspired by Cindy Guernsey, a TF board member and Program Coordinator in the Cleft Lip and Palate Program at SickKids.
“I especially loved shadowing Cindy. I am her #1 fan and it was a dream to see her in action!” said Maria Teresa.
Maria Teresa met with some TF Champions over dinner, pictured below. She also presented a session about Decentralized Care in Peru at the Ontario Council for International Cooperation’s Focus In Development session. Thank you to all those who joined us!
Maria Teresa will now be travelling to the ACPA’s 71st Annual Meeting to accept her award. If you are attending and want to meet with her, feel free to drop by our exhibitors booth.
