In the May issue of the ACPA journal, we found a short article called “Where have all the palates gone?”, noting that at a major hospital in Uganda there is a much lower level of cleft palate patients in relation to cleft lip.  They hypothesize that a high percentage of cleft palate patients are “lost” and have likely died before undergoing surgical correction due to malnutrition and other factors.
