THE ESTEBAN LASSO TRANSFORMATIVE IMPACT AWARD

About the Award

Established in 2017, the Esteban Lasso Transformative Impact Award is named in honour of Transforming Faces’ (TF) long-term Executive Director.

For nearly 15 years, Esteban Lasso’s expansive vision, deep compassion and boundless energy were instrumental in shaping TF’s approach to delivering comprehensive cleft care and realizing lasting change for children born with cleft lip and palate worldwide.

The award recognizes an exceptional contribution to the advance of comprehensive cleft care around the world. Recipients demonstrate an innovative, humanitarian commitment to lasting change for children.

Award Recipients

2020: Dr. Peter Cox

In 2019, Dr. Peter Cox rode his bicycle 12,000 km through 11 countries, beginning in Cairo and ending in Cape Town, South Africa. This exceptional feat raised $250,000 toward ensuring that children in Ethiopia, Uganda and beyond fully overcome the limitations of cleft lip and palate.

In honour of this journey (beautifully documented online), and a lifelong commitment to the health and well-being of children, we are thrilled to present Dr. Peter Cox with the Esteban Lasso Transformative Impact Award at TF’s virtual Cleft Journey 2020 event on November 18, 2020.

2017: Unifor Social Justice Fund

It was our pleasure to present the inaugural Esteban Lasso Transformative Impact Award to the Unifor Social Justice Fund, a foundation which has been a true advocate for advancing cleft care. Since 2006, Unifor has invested over $200,000 towards creating lasting change for children and families in Ethiopia.
