Yeabsra underwent her third surgery at SickKids today and it went well! Dr. Forrest built up the bridge of her nose. In 6-8 weeks, she will undergo her last surgery to build her nostrils. She is currently recovering.

In 7-10 days, she will have her sutures taken out and at that time, she may also have some dental work done. Dr. Sarooshi, a local dentist, has been treating Anaylem and Yeabsra for free.  Yeabsra needs some major dental work as most of her teeth have cavities and this can affect her adult teeth that will be emerging. A paediatric dentist has been identified by Dr. Sarooshi and Dr. Vendittelli, an orthodontist who is a part of TF’s volunteer team. This is yet another example how Toronto’s community has reached out to Yeabsra! We are keen to ensure that comprehensive treatment is provided to Yeabsra in accordance to our multidisciplinary approach to cleft treatment.

Meanwhile, Yeabsra has been attending MPS Etobicoke and is taking Arts Classes on the weekend. Many thanks to our supporters for arranging this – she really enjoys being around other kids!

Yeabsra and her mother will likely be in Canada until July. If you would like to support our work, you can donate here. If you have some time, please check out this article about Yeabsra in the Toronto Star or catch up on our blog.
