GivingTuesday is just under a month away! This year, get into the spirit of giving by helping us transform the lives of 10 children with cleft lip and palate. Our new campaign, #TransformTen, aims to raise $2,200 in 10 days to support life-changing surgery and rehabilitation for 10 children.
What is GivingTuesday?
GivingTuesday is a global day dedicated to giving back that takes place on the first Tuesday in December each year. It encourages you to make a difference in your community, whether its by making a donation, lending your voice to a cause or volunteering your time. This year, GivingTuesday will take place on December 1.
What will the TransformTen campaign involve?
For the 10 day period leading up to GivingTuesday (November 22 to December 1), we will be sharing daily stories of children whose lives have dramatically improved thanks to cleft lip and palate care. You will learn about the struggles they have faced, how they have overcome them, and how their lives have been transformed thanks to the treatment they have received.
Our hope is that, with your support, we can raise enough funds to support the same transformation for 10 new patients this holiday season.
How much does this life-changing care cost?
Surgery and follow-up rehabilitation costs approximately $220 for one child. Our goal is to raise $2,200 to cover the cost of treatment for 10 children. 100% of all donations go directly to our programs.
Why support cleft lip and palate treatment?
Cleft lip and palate is one of the world’s most common birth anomalies, affecting roughly one in 700 children. The condition affects not only the child’s appearance, but also their speech, hearing, nutrition and ability to develop socially.
Cleft lip and palate is treatable using a comprehensive approach which involves a team of medical specialists. Transforming Faces aims to make this care available locally, to all children who need it, for as long as they need. This care improves children’s physical and psychological health dramatically; they’re able to eat, speak and hear better, they’re able to participate in social settings without fear of discrimination, and they have a chance to live their lives to the fullest.
